Sacha Milroy - Production Manager Sacha Milroy is the Production Manager for His Dark Materials , a hugely responsible and demanding job requiring prodigious energy, patience and diplomatic skills. She oversees and schedules the production and delivery of all the physical elements of the productions, the props, lighting, sets and so on. She has to achieve this within the budget for the technical side set by the theatre management. In this case that’s almost one million pounds for the two plays. The hardest part she finds is having to tell someone that his or her concept of the set, lighting, costume or whatever, cannot be achieved within the budget. At this point she needs to be positive and able to suggest alternatives that won’t betray the intention behind the original idea. Her day is often an endless succession of meetings and conversations, so paperwork tends to be left until the evening. In the run-up to the first performances Sacha regularly worked a 14-hour day six days a week. |  | |
