Dominic Cooper - Actor Dominic Cooper was acting in another Nicholas Hytner production, Mother Clap’s Molly House , when he received an e-mail from Nicholas Hytner asking him to read Philip Pullman’s trilogy and then to participate in four workshops at the National Studio. Dominic fell in love with the books. In the workshops he met the creative team who were to shape His Dark Materials , including playwright Nicholas Wright and author Philip Pullman. They tried out different versions of the script, worked with a couple of prototype daemons, and generally played with words, images and ideas. One of the early exercises, Dominic recalls, was when Hytner had the actors working with one hand covered by a green sock to represent a puppet. Dominic plays one of the leading roles, the troubled boy Will Parry who accompanies Lyra on her epic quest. |  | |
