Elliot Levey: Actor

Bristol Old Vic's Beasts and Beauties gave actor Elliot Levey many opportunities to display his talent for comedy. He got the most laughs when he played the prime minister in 'The Emperor's New Clothes'. His ability to make the audience connect the fictional character to Britain's current prime minister led to gales of laughter as many made the connection between the fictional PM's ability to see things that aren't there and Tony Blair's conviction that Iraqi weapons of mass destruction will eventually be found. As the central protagonist in the 'The Husband', Elliot is up to all sorts of stage antics: at one point he manages to get stuck upside down at the end of a ladder, head in a bucket, attached by a rope to a 'cow' tethered at the other end!

Elliot doesn't only do humour though. He has played a range of roles throughout a career spanning theatre, television and film. In the film Gospel of John he played the apostle Nathaniel, and recently played the role of Marc Chagall in Tonight We Fly at the Edinburgh Festival. He says that it's hard to pinpoint what drives him to act. He's stopped asking himself why, and has just accepted that when he gets up on stage it works for him!
