Jack Tarlton: Actor As the emperor in ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ in Beasts and Beauties , actor Jack Tarlton has to stand naked at the edge of the stage with only a bunch of flowers covering his private parts, and when he turns around, he reveals his bare bottom to the whole audience. Jack says it’s a moment that will stay with him for a long time, but his most demanding role was that of the Beast in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. There was a lot of work involved in developing the character of the Beast, and in addition to going to the zoo and observing the behaviour of different animals, Jack had to learn to speak with fangs in his mouth. On stage, the Beast’s role is very physical as he has to leap across a table then down to the ground, in addition to a lot of screaming, clawing and beastly behaviour. But Jack has had other challenging roles in his career. To prepare for the part of Mozart in the BBC series The Genius of Mozart , Jack had to learn to look as if he could play the piano and conduct. Challenges aside, what he really likes about acting, is working with a group of people, developing stories and performing on stage. After Beasts and Beauties , Jack is playing the role of George in a theatre production of Burleigh Grimes , a drama about a manipulative and ambitious man who makes big money by playing the stock market, while ruining people’s lives at the same time. | | |
