![]() | Troubleshooting Stagework has been designed for use on all major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. We’ve optimised the site to work in the last couple browser editions, so it’s accessible on versions 4 and above of Internet Explorer and Netscape, and on any browser installed over the last 3 or 4 years. You may also want to look at our accessibility features. We use Flash Player to display the rich media assets on the site such as videos and picture carousels. The site has been fully tested across a number of platforms and in a number of different situations but if you do come across any problem please contact us through Stagework support. Flash Player is a rich media plug-in that we use to display all the animation, video and interactive elements. There are hours of video on Stagework and we can’t deliver the video clips without using a plug-in. Flash is very widely used and is regarded as the industry standard for bringing web pages to life. If you don’t have Flash Player installed, you can download it from here: Flash Player 2) I can’t get the video to work. This may be covered by some of the points below but if not, please let us know. 3) I’ve got the Flash Plug-in but I still can’t get the video to work. This can sometimes happen because of the security settings on your virus software. For example, if you have a software firewall such as Norton AntiVirus on your machine, it may not let you view the videos. By temporarily turning off the firewall, you will be able to access the Flash components. If you are in a large organisation, such as a college or school, there may be a delay before the videos start playing. The firewall may also be set to stop video from being displayed. In this case, it’s best to speak to your system or network administrator. 4) The video is not as good quality or as big as I’ve seen it on other people’s computers. The video player on Stagework is set up to look at your bandwidth. If you have a dial-up connection, then you will get a smaller video compared to the video you get if you have an ISDN connection, which is in turn smaller than the broadband version. This is to give our users the best possible experience and hopefully not have you waiting for ages for a broadband video to stream over your dial up connection. 5) Why does it take so long to download? This may because you have a firewall in your organisation or institution. This can sometime delay the streaming of the first video. 6) I can’t install Flash. This could be because you are within an organisation that doesn’t allow plug-ins to be downloaded to your local machine. You should speak to your system or network administrator. This may also happen if you have Norton AntiVirus installed on Macintosh OSX, since the Studio 8 installer may not properly install selected applications. Temporarily disabling Norton AntiVirus resolves this issue. 7) I would like to download the video and use it in the classroom. Due to the terms and conditions we’ve agreed with the various talent unions, and to protect actor’s rights, video can’t be downloaded and can only be streamed. If you have a broadband connection, then you should be able to access Stagework in your classroom. It’s completely reliable. You can bookmark specific videos beforehand in you browser ‘Favourites’. ![]() |
